Launched in 2024 and proudly Australian-owned, The Original Bag creates stylish, luxurious, limited-edition handbags that merge the worlds of art and fashion. Each collection features the work of prominent artists, bringing their unique vision to life in wearable form.
Our bags are meticulously crafted from heavyweight 100% cotton canvas, adorned with quality digital print artwork, soft leather trims, and a top zip closure. Inside, you’ll find thoughtfully designed pockets for all your essentials.
To ensure authenticity and exclusivity, each bag is individually numbered with a heat-pressed edition number - much like a limited-edition piece of fine art.
Designed in Melbourne with the expertise of a skilled fashion designer, we collaborate with accomplished artists to create collections that reflect a harmonious blend of artistic expression and refined craftsmanship.
Our inaugural collaborations are with the extraordinarily talented Indigenous artists Konstantina (Kate Constantine) and Delvine Pitjara, whose work embodies the fusion of contemporary artistry with cultural heritage.
Konstantina is a renowned contemporary artist, represented by galleries in Paris, London, Sydney, Melbourne and Margaret River. Her solo exhibitions have consistently sold out for nearly a decade.
Delvine Pitjara, known for her minimalist palette of predominantly black and white, is gaining increasing popularity among art enthusiasts and interior designers for her striking contemporary aesthetic.

About our Founder
Our founder, Susie, spent many years working in the corporate world, but after having four kids, life changed drastically, and she transitioned into being a full-time mum.
Living in Melbourne, Australia - the city that endured the longest lockdowns globally during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020/2021 - Susie found herself navigating the challenges of homeschooling. During this time, she was inspired to start something for herself, something she could be proud of. That’s when the idea for The Original Bag was born.
With a long-standing love of both art and fashion, Susie often admired the art on her walls, wondering how it could reach a wider audience. How can you #takeyourartout? This sparked the vision for The Original Bag: a stylish, luxurious, limited-edition handbag featuring the work of prominent artists, merging art with fashion.
